Zef’s Dockside

I have eaten at Zef's Dockside more times than I can count...literally. I've far surpassed finger and toe counting. I live locally and I appreciate that they are open on Mondays. Typically, my go-to is their Chicken Greek Salad. And when I say typically, I mean every time. I'm a creature of habit at times, but it's just that astounding. Their Greek dressing is impressive. I appreciate the incorporation of beets for the deep color. You won't find that style of dressing at many establishments.

Traverse City Whiskey Co.

My husband and I like to think of ourselves as self-proclaimed whiskey aficionados, although I am sure we are far from that in the eyes of a professional. Traverse City is one of our favorite long weekend destinations for local whiskey tasting.  We stop by Traverse City Whiskey Co. whenever we're in town visiting. This most recent time we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and stopping in for a nightcap...okay, two nightcaps. The distillery has an undeniable charm. It highlights a rustic interior featuring plenty of exposed wood and metal. The space feels warm and inviting with the right amount of dark ambient.

Shores Inn

Shores Inn…my local watering hole.  I have lived in St. Clair Shores my entire life and this remains my most frequently visited establishment in all of the city. If you're a beer lover, you'll be in hoppy heaven at Shores Inn. They have so many options for beer so planning on trying to get on The And, if you're not feeling like beer, their other drinks are just as refreshing.

Pegasus Taverna

February 9th would have been my mom and dad’s 43rd wedding anniversary! Ever since my dad passed away, my mom and I have always tried to celebrate their wedding anniversary to commemorate their adventurous life together. This year, my mom picked one of our favorite local restaurants—Pegasus Taverna.  Usually, we will go to Pegasus before some sort of event, but this time we decided to dine there because my mom and dad used to LOVE to go to Greektown in Detroit together on date nights.

Ottava Via

My husband and I have had Ottava Via on our restaurant bucket list for several months now!   We decided to go at 3:30 pm on a Tuesday and it was ideal! The first time we tried dining there it was prime dinner hour on a Friday evening and there was quite a long wait—which is to be expected at any spectacular restaurant.  They do take reservations for parties of 8 people or more which is convenient. Parking was a breeze since we went earlier in the day on a Tuesday. During prime dinner time, parking gets a little hairy but there is a grass lot about one block away from Ottava Via.
